Llamas in pasture

Prairie Llake Llamas is a family affair. Three generations have been enjoying these unique animals for the past 12 years. We discovered them at the Minnesota State Fair, and what started as “we just have to have 2 or 3 of these” has grown to a small herd.

Baby LlamaOur answer to “What do you do with a llama?”? Mostly we just like having them around! But we also have fun showing them in halter and performance classes—hanging out with our llamas and other llama lovers; taking them to schools (wonderful for “show and tell”); and of course there are those adorable babies.

We breed just a few females a year; we like to keep our herd at around 20. Our goal is to produce strong, athletic animals with correct conformation, presence, and pleasant personality.

Llamas are not our only love. We also work with beautiful colored angora goats at Prairie Lake Farm. See our goats page for more information.

We have some older female llamas that will make excellent Guard Llamas.  They are used to having the goats underfoot.
